Call for Resolutions

The APB Annual General Meeting is a special occasion for the Association to come together with its members. It’s an opportunity for members to learn about the activities of the Association over the past year, review the Annual Report and financial accounts, and select a new Board of Directors to lead the organization for the year ahead. This meeting is typically held remotely, giving all interested members the chance to participate.

Any regular member of the APB can bring a resolution to the AGM for consideration. The Board may also propose resolutions for the membership to consider.

The purpose of a resolution, if approved, is to help guide the Board’s advocacy efforts by prioritizing the issues that matter most to the members. This is how the resolution process works:

  • All resolutions proposed at the meeting must be seconded. The Chair cannot propose a resolution but may step down from the chair to do so.

  • Resolutions addressing public issues or special resolutions related to the Constitution and Bylaws must be submitted in writing, including via email or fax, to the Association 30 days before the meeting. This gives everyone enough time to review the resolution before it is presented. However, the 30-day requirement can be waived if all Directors unanimously agree.

To help you prepare a resolution for submission to the AGM, a form is available.
