We could use YOUR Help… as a Volunteer
APB is only as strong as the volunteers we have contributing their expertise and time to delivering on our mandate as a professional advocacy and services organization.
OUR PROMISE TO YOU…
We WILL:
- Find out what you would like to do for APB
- Match your interests and areas of expertise with the needs of APB
- Determine how much time you have available for us
- Only ask of you what best suits your interests and available time
- Make sure your experience is rewarding and FUN
- Have you learn and grow from your experience
- Help you meet other professionals; expand your network
- Recognize your volunteer efforts through reports in APB news channels
- Express our appreciation at every turn
- Work with you when you decide it’s time to move on to other volunteer opportunities whether with APB or outside of APB
We WILL NOT:
- Impose on you tasks and expectations that are not to your liking
- Ask too much of your time
- Be the cause of added stress
- Let you down
Thanks for reading about volunteering at a high level. Please take another couple of minutes and dive a bit deeper into volunteerism at APB.
Okay, so how might you volunteer? Some examples of volunteer service:
- Serve as a Mentor with the APB Mentoring Program
- Help write stories about our members
- Connect with APB members to encourage them to post about their work
- Help write and edit BioNOTES, our regular news channel
- Write material for the APB website and other social media channels
- Contribute your technical expertise as APB advocates with government and others on issues of the day
- Recruit non-members to join APB
- Write grant proposals as APB seeks funding to help with special projects
- Carry our message to employers and other NGOs
- Encourage your employer to join APB as a Business Affiliate
- Speak with students at post-secondary institutions about your career
- Help locate worthy recipients of an APB award
- Become a member of the APB Board
We hope the foregoing adequately describes the scope of volunteering with APB.
There is no time like the present and it does not take much… simply send us a brief email to info@professionalbiology.com to ask for more information… to ask for someone to call you… to outline your areas of interest. We look forward to hearing from you today.
And, when you write, we promise to get back to you within a day or two.
